Knife attacker shot by police near Barcelona

A person wielding a knife and shouting in Arabic was shot lifeless as he entered a police station at Cornellà de Llobregat, south of Barcelona, Spanish authorities stated on Monday.

The attacker, stated to be 29 and of Algerian origin, had gone into the constructing at 05:52 (03:52 GMT) and was shot by a guard.

Catalan police stated the attacker had focused officers.

He had shouted “Allahu Akbar” (God is biggest), experiences stated.

The attacker lived close to Cornellà de Llobregat, had been residing in Spain for a number of years and had a foreigners’ identification quantity, experiences stated. Police stations throughout Spain have been placed on alert on account of the incident.

The assault got here three days after the anniversary of the 2017 jihadist assaults within the centre of Barcelona and close by Cambrils wherein 16 folks died.
