Carol Kirkwood whereabouts have been called into question since the 56-year-old’s slot on BBC Breakfast has been presented by Matt Taylor. The meteorologist has delivered the weather forecast for the past few weeks in Carol’s absence. But fans of the morning show are curious as to why the veteran broadcaster is no longer fronting the segment herself. She is a familiar face to viewers and often works on the programme five days a week, so her being a no-show is somewhat unusual.
Taking to Twitter to question Carol’s disappearance, one person wrote: “Where are you hiding Kirkwood? Hope all is well.”
Another commentator added: “@carolkirkwood BBC Breakfast is not the same with you. Where is Carol?”
A third said her absence was “suspicious”, as Carol was not at work to meet one of her favourite performers, Bryan Adams.
“What have you done with @carolkirkwood? She’s been gone too long and she missed Bryan Adams suspicious,” they penned.
Someone else cried: “Another day without @carolkirkwood. My licence fee is hanging by a thread @BBCBreakfast.”
“Carol doesn’t need rendering and grouting. She beautiful already. We just need her back on BBC Breakfast asap,” another demanded.
A sixth contributor directly messaged Carol and asked: “When are you returning please?”
Carol, who first joined the BBC in 1998, is said to be returning to the series this week, according to Metro.
A BBC spokesperson told the publication the reporter is currently on holiday and will return to the small screen this Wednesday.
Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Carol Kirkwood for comment.
She was last seen on Twitter on March 5, sharing a video of Bryan Adams saying he was looking for her at the BBC studio.
The Canadian singer-songwriter, who the meteorologist is a big fan of, asked where she was.
In the clip a framed picture of Carol is seen standing on a desk, before the camera panned to the Summer Of ’69 hitmaker.
Speaking down the lens, 59-year-old Bryan, asked: “Carol, where are you? I came all the way to the Beeb and you’re not here!”
The video uploaded by the official BBC Breakfast account earlier this month was captioned: “Hey @carolkirkwood, someone’s been looking for you this morning @bryanadams.”
Responding to the cheeky post, Carol replied: “Nooooooooo! GUTTED,” followed by a series of crying face emojis.
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays on BBC One at 6am.
